Description

These  hand crafted snares are designed to be  PRODUCTIVE crab trappers and  have been doing just that since  2017.Great track  record.
They are made from 16 gauge galvanized welded steel wire using only the best quality materials .Strong  and sturdy.
Designed for long  distance casting.When loaded with  bait , the snare  weighs in around  7-8 ounces so  you are looking at the snare fully loaded with enough weight  to get it out over the surf into  the deep water  catch zone.
CAGE: Length-3 1/2". Width-1 3/4". Depth-1"deep and is designed with aerodynamic bull nose ends allowing for less wind resistance on casting and less resistance (drag) on retrieval.
6 Loops  are made from  high  quality 50lb test Mason rock  hard nylon leader and will retain their springiness even after hours of soaking. They  are abrasive free. Good to have if you are crabbing  around rock.
The loops  are set  high and tight on the cage forming  a wall  around the snare through  which  the crab  have to pass to  get to  the bait. You  can set them  at  whatever angle  you  chose.
Shock line is 8" long, 80lb test and is made from the same high quality  abrasive free mason "rock hard" nylon leader.
If you  are casting from  a dock or  a pier and do not need so much  weight, just remove the  included weight  and attach one of your choice.Very versatile and suitable for all types of crab.
How do  you know if and when you  have a  crab on your snare?
Test the  line as follows:
Let the bait soak  from 2 - 5 minutes. Then holding the rod parallel to the ground, very gently wind in the slack until  you  feel the weight of the snare.Gently  raise the tip of the rod and  If you feel it  is heavier than when you  cast it in, you probably have a crab or  a couple  of crabs on your snare. With the  line straight and no slack, jerk  the rod up thereby closing  and tightening the loops. Wind  in without relaxing the line until you have landed  the crab or  crabs.
To pick up  the crab, flip it  over and grab it by the swim  paddles at the rear of the crab. This immobilizes them and makes them  safe to  handle. Be sure to  have a pair of long nose pliers handy to  remove the  line from  the crab. Avoid  using your fingers.
